COPPA Compliance

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) is a U.S. federal law that protects the privacy of children under 13. It requires services that collect information from children to get verifiable parental consent and follow strict data handling practices.

LilPebs is designed from the ground up to be COPPA compliant. Kid safety isn't an afterthought — it's the foundation.

• Children under 13 cannot create an account without a parent or guardian.
• During signup, we collect a parent's email address and send a verification link.
• The child's account is not fully activated until parental consent is confirmed.
• Parents can withdraw consent and delete the account at any time.

We minimize data collection to only what's needed:

• Display name — chosen by the child (we encourage first names only or nicknames).
• Rock photos — images uploaded for identification and collections.
• Collection data — rock names, categories, and ratings.
• Gallery interactions — sticker reactions on shared posts (no text input).

We do not collect: real names, physical addresses, phone numbers, location data, or any other personally identifiable information from children.

• There are no direct messages, chat features, or comment sections.
• Children interact only through pre-set sticker reactions — no free-text input in social features.
• There are no friend lists, follower counts, or social graphs.

Every photo posted to the public gallery goes through AI-powered moderation before it becomes visible. Our moderation checks for:

• Inappropriate or harmful imagery.
• Content that isn't rock/mineral/fossil related.
• Any personally identifiable information visible in photos.

Parents and guardians have full visibility and control:

• View all of your child's collection and gallery activity.
• Suspend or delete your child's account at any time.
• Receive email notifications about account activity.
• Review and approve gallery posts before they go public (optional).

• We retain child data only while the account is active.
• Parents can request complete data deletion at any time.
• When an account is deleted, all associated data (photos, collection, activity) is permanently removed within 30 days.
• We do not retain child data for marketing or analytics purposes.

• LilPebs does not display advertisements of any kind.
• We do not use third-party ad trackers, pixels, or cookies.
• We do not sell, rent, or share children's data with any third party.
• We use only first-party, essential cookies for authentication.
